Parents wishing for their son or daughter to benefit from our provision need to ask their local authority to name The Wherry School in their child’s statement of SEN or Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Learners at The Wherry School will have:
- a diagnosis of autism
- cognitive abilities that fall within the range normally found within mainstream education – below average, average, above average and exceptional learning abilities
- a cognitive profile that means placement within a complex needs school would not be appropriate
- a statement of SEN or an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP)
- the common factor of being unable to access the mainstream school model and curriculum.
